Things I Learned From the Galera Trip (still got a hangover)

1. You'll never know you're a beach bum until you try (pretend) to be one.
2. Being a beach bum doesn't necessarily mean you have to be a pro-swimmer.
3. There is no Starbucks beyond Batangas Pier, let alone at the beaches of PG.
4. For better results, bring your own snorkeling equipment. (You could skip the eeeeew part & learn faster.)
5. For crying out loud, Almay, sunblocks are invented for a reason!!!

Jax & Pearl: 24 Months and Counting
Tuesday, October 18, 2005

After a long week of sh*tty days, petty fights, and stressful planning, Jax and I finally decided where to celebrate our second year anniversary, some place we both haven't been to - Puerto Galera. =)

When we got to White Beach, we looked for a nice room and ended up at Mindorine, quite expensive but it was worth it. It had this Spanish touch with a lot of antique decorations, the bed was just right for Jax (I mean lengthwise), and it was near the beach front. Perfect. Jax even befriended the owner and managed to get us a minor discount.

After settling down and changing into our beach outfits, we had lunch at Peter's. The food was good, authentic Filipino taste and not so pricey. Their beef sinigang was steaming hot when they served it to us. Yummy-ness! It had just the right asim taste which Jax and I both loved. We hardly talked while feasting on it! So anyways, after stuffing our stomachs to our hearts' content, we walked around and familiarized ourselves with the place and people. We agreed most natives there were very polite and accomodating. After a while, there was this manong who kept following us around asking us if we wanted to go snorkeling. So 15 minutes later, we boarded Amigo (the name of manong's boat) and went around 2-3 kilometers to the east where the coral reefs where. I never knew I would appreciate the underwater world that much. Wonderful, wonderful sight.

We spent the rest of the day on the shore, burying ourselves in the white sand, picking up nice stones, staring at the waves, and just talking about us, our childhood memories, dreams, anything and everything. Occasionally, Jax would look for flat stones, bet me how many times it would bounce on the water surface, and throw it to the sea. We were like kids! And it felt all warm and nice inside. It's the kind of feeling I know I will never ever trade for anything else in the world.

Just about the same time that the sun started to set, we went back to our room and got ready for dinner. The setting was perfect at Manalo's. They have tables set for couples at the far end of their resto, complete with candle centerpieces for a more romantic touch. I think the gay waiter/waitress who served us was kind of disappointed though that we didn't order (alcoholic) drinks after the meal. We were just not the type. Instead, we walked barefoot and looked for a spot to just lie down in the sand. Underneath the stars, Jax and Pearl holding hands.. what more could you ask for? We just talked about our relationship, what we hated about each other, how we could improve, and mushy mushy stuff. *wink!* Anyways, the night ended with two ate's giving us a whole body massage.. and them asking us why we didn't have kids yet. Haha.

I woke up the next day with a huge smile on my face. It was the 16th - officially our second year anniversary. Jax and I woke up early to catch the warm sea breeze and have a long walk at the beach front. Then we had breakfast (with banana split!) at Peter's again. Afterwhich, we had the chance to bond under the sun again. Jax even let out his artistic side by making a sand turtle and "carving" our names.

We left Galera with memories that only two of us could ever share. One of the best weekends of my life. I never thought of the words "tired" and "stressed" the whole time! The travel back home was long but we both didn't mind. I can really say that this trip made us even closer to each other, something we promised we'd always have time for every year for the rest of our lives.

We've made it through two long years. I know my love for Jax and his love for me will continue to grow with each passing day. Our relationship may not be perfect and smooth but those imprefections make it all the more worth keeping. Here's to more years of happiness together... 730 days of Jax-Pearl, and counting...

Stress and More

# Bad eating habits. Last night I had chocolates for dinner and this morning I had tacos for breakfast. The whole Saturday naman I was in the office. I had chicharon and instant miso soup for snunch (kung merong brunch syempre meron ding snunch - snack & lunch. hehe. corny.) Tapos for dinner I just had 2 sticks of barbecue. Tsk tsk... I wonder how many times a normal human being is allowed to do this before he finally breaks down due to "malnutrition".

# Jax is back. Yipeeyeyey! Ayan na-realize ko it's been 12 hours pa lang since naghiwalay kami kagabi. Tuwa talaga ako sa pink polo shirt nya. Ang ganda siguro ng nagbigay sa kanya nun! Mwehehe..

# Monday sickness. I'm still tired from last week's work! Right now my forehead screams ----S-T-R-E-S-S-!!!---> Leche super pagod na ko. I'm expecting another hell week this week. Validation protocol, VM sensory, Project Slim, Marketing assessment.. Wow I just can't get enough! (sarcastic po ako)

# Looking forward to this weekend! =) I'm devoting 15-30 minutes of company time to look for a nice place to go to with Jax. Haha! Actually, I don't think I'm ready for a long trip like last year, (blame it on all the exhaustion from work) pero bahala na talaga.

# I cancelled dinner with Ratskees (excited pa naman ako) and mukhang malabo din yung sa CSA friends (though eto pinag-iisipan ko pa kasi Cantinetta lang naman).. Aaaaargh! You are neglecting your social life. Bad bad bad.

Syempre with both my hands full nakuha ko pa din mag-blog. Bat ba?! Mag-o-overtime din naman ako anyways! Grrrr...

Where else can you find a boss who...

1. You can tell your bitchyness without having to worry about getting fired
2. Takes care of you, makes sure you eat on time and get home safe when you're on out-of-office events
3. Is also your friend, sister, tita, and mother all rolled into one
4. Brings you to Starbucks for a one-on-one "meeting"
5. Listens to all your stories and qualms about your boyfriend
6. Shares the coolest gimmick places she's been to so you could go there with your man or friends as well
7. Exchanges kikay and fashion tips with you
8. Would urge you take a leave because it's your birthday, anniversary, etc.
9. Supports you when she sees you're stressed out all because of your perpetual work load
10. Makes "scripted" scenes with you just so other big bosses would notice you (my fave!)

Obviously, I love my boss, my mentor. She's one of the major reasons why I want to stay here in R&D. Ma'am Grace, you've earned and will always have my respect. (Promotion na ba ito? Hehehe...)

Bad Vibes

Sira ang araw ko. Ang aga aga. Feeling ko talaga I have ESP. Sometimes I think of someone or something or a situation, as in they just pop in my head.. and then days later I'd find myself dealing with the person or the place or whatever. Hmmm.. women's intuition? Just like what I discovered this morning. When i talk to _ _ _, I'll see the "power" of this.

You know I hate being lied to. And, for the record, I'm NOT paranoid. I have my gutfeel.

Shake It Off
Thursday, October 06, 2005

Was supposed to post this yesterday...

Mood: So-so.. A bit hyper.
Music: Don't Love You No More by Craig David
Wearing: Office clothes. White embroidered blouse and beige slacks
Having: Starbucks Caramel Cappuccino

+ Last night I went to Glorietta to pay my Globe bill and claim my rewards. Akalain nyo yun? Sa laki ng sinisingil ng Globe e nakakayanan nila magbigay ng rewards worth PhP 11,000! Syempre I chose the rebate for 2 years over the G-cash and plan upgrade plus new mobile phone. I don't have plans naman of getting a new phone and well yung G-cash, limited lang naman kasi yung establishments. At least with the rebate, if I don't go over my basic, I'll have free credits for two years. Woohooooo!!! Of course it's a marketing strategy but then natuwa lang siguro ako kasi hindi ko in-expect. It's a gift daw for being loyal. Kung sa bagay, almost 4 years na rin ang plan ko ha.

+ I realized it's been a long time since I took the bus. Yesterday while I was at it, I was reminded of college days when I didn't know how to drive pa. Every Tuesday and Friday afternoon, you'd find me and my ever dependable backpack walking to Philcoa for a 1.5-hour ride home. Naisip ko, ang swerte ko din kasi never talaga ako nag-commute na meron pang transfers like bus then jeep then trike (walang pakelamanan ng spelling), etc. Wala lang.

+ I was disturbed by this kid I saw on my way home shouting at some other kid "F***k You!" and then he shoved a dirty finger. Iba na talaga ang mga bata ngayon. And hearing myself say that... 1) I'm really getting old! Now I want to tell my mom "If you thought of me as a naughty brat before, wait til you see the next generations!" 2) made me worry about raising my own children someday given the uncontrollable environment. Oh well, that's life. Thank you to my mom and dad for raising me this way... Bakit? Mabait naman ako ah! =)

+ I'm trying to sport a new hairstyle. Actually, when I got my haircut a few weeks ago, the stylist suggested it. But being the pasaway that I am, syempre I had my own way. Now I'm still trying to get the hang of it. Shucks, ayoko lang ng may babati kasi mako-conscious talaga ako.

Messy Cube-y
Saturday, October 01, 2005

Well well.. my cube has looked like this for weeks now. And I'm not proud. *pout* So right after I finish this blog I'm going to clean it up. Isasama ko na din ang metal drawer ko and the clutter that's underneath my desk na puro can samples and kraft bags. Aaaaargh!

It's Saturday afternoon and I'm here alone in the office waiting for the Lactum artwork and making up for my "absence" while I was away for the training. This is the part I hate about being away from the office.. Haay. Oh well, ganyan talaga. In three months time something big-deal will happen, life-changing even. Pero ayoko muna isipin. Bahala na si Lord. =)

almay here. i'm 25 and act like it when the stars are aligned. i'm currently attached (and loving it!) to the most spoiled big boy in the world aka jax. i'm an augustinian and an iska. i'm not a party person, more of the dinner-coffee type. i miss dancing though (it's been ages!). i'm a self-confessed crybaby and drama queen. i talk a lot, often even in a language only i could understand. recently, i've turned into that boyish kid. i love cars. i like driving, sometimes alone when i want to get away and think. i have a sweet tooth. give me chocolates with almonds and blueberry cheesecake and i'm yours forever.

(someday soon) i'd like to: swim in the pacific ocean. ride a hot air balloon. be (and drive) in a real racing circuit. sing with a band. have a month-long vacation without having to think about work. see the egyptian pyramids. lie in a bed of roses, literally. climb a mountain. have my own butterfly garden. complete my bath and body collection. finish reading the Bible, cover to cover. be in the set of grey's anatomy. go on a totally unplanned road trip. learn three other languages.

"Maybe we're not supposed to be happy. Maybe gratitude has nothing to do with joy. Maybe being grateful means recognizing what you have for what it is. Appreciating small victories. Admiring the struggle it takes simply to be human. Maybe we're thankful for the familiar things we know. And maybe we're thankful for the things we'll never know. At the end of the day, the fact that we have the courage to still be standing is reason enough to celebrate."
